Simon Carr
I have had 20 plus years of experience in the events industry, working in several different roles.
It started when I was back packing in Australia, and I found a job building temporary structures for events and installing temporary ground protection for film studios and stadiums for concerts. A love of the production element of live events kept me in the industry when I got back to the UK and I moved on to working as part of a team erecting stages and structures with big cranes all over the UK and around the world.
After 12 years of hands on building, I moved into project management of overlay and infrastructure, working on numerous amazing and technically challenging events worldwide. After getting some advice about safety training from Tim Roberts, I decided that I wanted to move into event safety, poacher turned gamekeeper as they say. But I wanted to bring a “can do” positive attitude, which was Tim’s ethos.
I retrained in safety and joined the tess team in 2017. Since joining I have run the tess London office and have been lucky enough to work on many interesting and challenging events, ranging from touring South America with big bands, to advising on fashion shows, numerous festivals and mass participation sporting events like the London Marathon and the opening cricket world cup party 2019 that was held on The Mall.
I was the first member of tess to be Mental Health First Aid trained, am FPA CO6 Fire Risk Assessor certified and currently working toward NCRQ Diploma in Applied Health & Safety.
